Dear Demographers,

Finally, 2025 has arrived, and we are excited to welcome many demographers to the International Population Conference – IUSSP, to be held in Brisbane in July. Let’s work hard to have a great conference!

Demography is unstoppable: early this year, we said goodbye to a loved friend of the school, Ian McDermid, and we will miss him.

The school also experienced new arrivals with three PhD students commencing since our last newsletter: Castro Ayebeng, Claudia Avila Schmalko, and Tabitha Scott, who secured the Caldwell scholarship, a scholarship from the government of Paraguay, and an ANU CASS scholarship, respectively. Big welcome to all three!
